REGISTRATION FAQ

Please review the following frequently asked questions (FAQ): 

Cancellations

Notification of cancellation must be made in writing and sent to the ISTH Registration Department by email. The notification must include all the relevant information regarding the bank account to which a possible refund may be remitted. For cancellations received before Friday, June 11, 2020 deposits will be refunded less €50 AUD for administrative costs. After this date, no refunds will be possible.  The same applies for cancellation of additional sessions and orders (e.g. Master Classes, printed copy of program book, ISTH 2020 Networking Evening etc.). Credit will not be given for unattended events or early termination of attendance.

 

Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credits

There is a €25 charge for a CME Certificate. You can purchase the certificate as part of the registration process. The Congress will be seeking accreditation through EACCME. In addition to the €25 charge, you will need to complete a survey that will be sent after the congress; as a requirement by EACCME.

 

Data Privacy

​The acquisition, handling (which includes saving data, changes, transmission, blocking and erasing) and utilization of all personal registration data is executed within the guidelines of the effective data protection regulations.  Please see the ISTH privacy policy for additional information.

 

Dietary Requirements

​You will be asked for your individual dietary requirements during the registration process.  The organizer cannot guarantee that all allergies can be considered and the responsibility remains with the delegate.

 

Group Registration

There are 2 types of group registration. There are no special group registration fees or discounts. One group manager must be designated as the point of contact.

 

Small Group registration – for groups of 2-7. They would log into the registration site and at the top of the contact page is a link to register small groups. Required registration details for each attendee must be completed and payment made before registration can be submitted.

 

Large Group registration – for groups of 8 and over. They should email registration@isth.org to be sent the appropriate link.

 

Insurance and Liability

​It is recommended that participants obtain adequate cover for travel, health and accident insurance before they depart from their countries. ISTH as organizers cannot accept responsibility for personal injuries, or loss of, or damage to private property belonging to the congress participants and accompanying persons.

 

ISTH Membership

Letter of Invitation

During the registration process the registrant will be given the option to receive a formal letter of invitation. This letter is available to assist in the registrant’s application for a visa to enter Italy. Letters of Invitation will not be sent until after the payment has been received. Master Classes and Career Development Sessions
Master Class Sessions: The Master Class Sessions are specifically targeted to our Early Career and Reach-the-World participants which allow them to meet with a leader in the field and well-known and established investigator, on a predetermined topic, to ask questions and possibly establish life-long connections, an important aspect of the ISTH.  Masterclasses are situated in small groups 25 (per class), the leader will be asked to give a short introduction (5 minutes), after which there will be an interactive exchange of questions and a discussion on either basic science or clinical science topics.
 
Career Development Sessions: The ISTH Career Development Small Group Sessions are targeted to clinical and research fellows, postdoctoral researchers, as well as faculty in the early stages of their career.  Each group will consist of young investigators with similar career interests allowing them to meet with a leader in the field and well-known and established investigator, to ask questions, get career advice and possibly establish life-long connections, an important aspect of the ISTH.  Each class is situated in small groups of 10 (per class), the leader will be asked to give a short introduction (5 minutes), after it will be informally structured. The session will be career focused and allow attendees the opportunity to direct the discussion on the pre-determined topic.

There is no audio visual or slide presentations in these very personal sessions. Master Classes and Career Development Sessions will be held, Sunday, July 12 – Tuesday July 14, 2020, from 13:15 – 14:15.

Registration for Master Class and Career Development Sessions is complimentary on a “first come-first served” basis. Registration for these classes will open in Spring 2020. Registration will be open to those in Early Career and Reach-the-World registrations categories.

Please be sure to arrive early for this session. There will be no admittance after 13:10.

 

Only those who have pre-registered can attend these classes, there will be no waitlist on the day of the classes.

 

Method of Payment

The full payment of your registration is requested when registering. No confirmation will be sent until ISTH has received the payment.


Payment should be made in EURO only, using one of the following methods:

Credit card payments are processed in the United States and may be flagged as an international transaction by your credit card company resulting in a declined transaction.  It is recommended that you authorize the payment in advance with your credit card company before starting the online registration process. 

​Checks will not be accepted.

 

Name Change

A handling fee of €50 will be charged for every name change to an existing meeting registration. A new registration form for the substitute attendee should be submitted, as well as a proof for the reduced fee if applicable. Name changes will only be accepted until the pre-registration deadline indicating clearly the new and old name. After the pre-registration deadline, all name changes must be carried out on-site.

If an attendee loses, misplaces or forgets the name badge, a handling fee of €10 will be charged for a new name badge. Upon handing out a new name badge, the lost badge will become invalid. 

 

Networking Evening

The ISTH 2020 Networking Evening is scheduled for Tuesday, July, 14. Details will be available soon.

 

Registration Confirmation

​A confirmation of registration and payment status will be sent to the individual or company that requests registration. Confirmation will be sent only when the corresponding payment is received. Participants should bring the letter of confirmation to the registration desk at the meeting venue when collecting their documents.

Registration for Presenters of Accepted Abstract

The early registration deadline is before abstract presenters will be mailed their letters of acceptance. If you are an accepted abstract presenter, you will qualify to register at the early registration fee. Instructions on how to receive this rate will be provided in the abstract notification letter. The early registration rate will only be for the presenting author.

 

Trainee Session

The Trainee Session will take place on Saturday, July 11 between 08:00 – 10:30. This session is targeted to Early Career and Reach-the-World attendees. Registration for this session is part of the overall registration process and is open to only those registering in Early Career and Reach-the-World categories. There is a 25 EUR charge to attend this session.

 

Visas

​It is the sole responsibility of the attendee to take care of his/her visa requirements. Attendees who require an entry visa must allow sufficient time for the application procedure. Attendees should contact the nearest embassy or consulate to determine the appropriate timing of their visa applications. The organizers will not directly contact embassies and consulates on behalf of visa applicants.

The registration fee minus a handling fee of 50 EUR will be refunded after the conference if the visa was applied for in time, and an official proof of the embassy confirming that a visa could not be granted, is forwarded to the ISTH Registration Department.
